Listening without hearing is a big problem. At school we had tests on reading comprehension. I think I was at or slightly above average in that. What I find now is that I listen to people, when we are face-to-face, but if I'm listening to an audio, I can drift off if it runs more than 10 minutes, because I have too many things to do and I want to do them. I have tried to work and listen at the same time, but it almost always ends in disaster.
Finding the right people to help with workload is often a problem.
Well said Alan, we all struggle with this. Extreme Listening as I call it is something we all need to work on. Keeping in mind that your listening skills, good or bad, are directly tied to your Emotional Intelligence.
Listen well & your EQ will soar!

Incredibly interesting!
Great audio. I am amazed at people who can be that comfortable in this medium. I made a 3min video for work and it took me over 1.5hrs! The concepts are interesting. I'm not sure what you mean by emotional intelligence, because I already had a definition in my mind that meant the ability to not let problems bother you. You're using it in the context of listening with focus.
